Essential support for under 25s

Post of The Month

Abigail is our Post of The Month winner voted by the community for the following post:

"Hi there,

Welcome to the boards. Hope you gind it more helpful.

Its hard to find support, sorry that no one will take you to see your gp/doctor i am not sure if this is the same for you but you are aload to book doctors appointments without your parents being there and you can attend them unacccompanied.

Depression and other illness can be quite scary especially when your quite young. Do have a look round the site there are lots of useful articles and information on here.

You are not alone.

Sunday to thursday we have support chats and general chats on at 8pm till 9:30pm if you would like to join them. They are a great way to get to know people and seak support at the same time. Heres the link to the page -

Hope to see you round

This forum is a bit different to the others; it's here to help us get exposure for The Mix. As you know, we are a charity and we need coverage in the press to help our profile with potential funders and supporters. In short, we have to demonstrate that you find The Mix helpful and supportive.

Often we get calls from journalists wanting to go onto the boards to research articles. This has its good and bad points. On the one hand it's great to get the exposure but on the other hand we DO NOT want you guys to be unwittingly used and abused. No, really.

And that's why we decided to create this forum. From time to time we will give permission to journalists (vetoed by our communications team) to come on here and canvass your opinions or try and recruit you for interviews.

Sometimes our inhouse fundraisers or marketing people might also come on and ask for your help. For example, when we do reports for funders, it?s great to have direct quotes from users saying how much they like our stuff.

So what do you get out of it? Well, taking part in interviews is excellent experience. It builds your confidence and you'll go away knowing that you have helped us enormously (...and may even be given a few goodies for your efforts)

As we've already said, threads will only appear on this forum if we are happy with them. Thanks again for your help. You can PM if you have any questions.

We're Aife & Mike: the staff team here at The Mix.
While we can't offer support via this account, if you have any questions about this place, feel free to
    ask over in the
Help Desk or send us a private message.
