Post of The Month

Jellyelephant is our Post of The Month winner voted by the community for the following post:

"Hey Abi,

Please don't be sorry. Have you ever heard of the phrase "You can't pour from an empty cup"? I feel like this applies here. You need to look after yourself before you can start caring for other people. I know you know all about self care so I won't go on, but try and practise it a little, the way you encourage others to. It's great that you have other skills too, I know music is one of your passions in life and hopefully by studying it that can help you get to where you want to be. Take all the time you need, you don't have to support people in SC all of the time - chat is there to support you too when you are going through difficult times.

Take care of yourself

  • Online Free Guitar Lessons and review of Epiphone's splendid Hummingbir Pro

If like my sister Mandy you're wanting to learn the guitar, reputable music shops will not only offer you a great range of budget beginner's guitars, but may also offer free guitar lessons. Here is one exceptional example of a budget acoustic guitar.

Epiphone Hummingbird Pro - this is my top pick! It's fantastic to play and currently on offer for 289 from amazon uk + 13 shipping. I loved it so much that I treated myself to one, and this morning I ordered one for Mandy's Christmas pressie.

Epiphone's Hummingbird Pro is the entry-level version of the famous Gibson Hummingbird. The body of this guitar has a dreadnought shape and is made of a solid, one-piece spruce top with a select laminated mahogany back and sides. This gives this acoustic guitar a warm, rounded sound. There's also a spruce top which helps to add brighter and clearer high sounds. The neck has a slim d-neck shape and is made from selected mahogany, with a rosewood fretboard with 20 frets. The bridge is also made from rosewood, with 6 bridge pins that holds the strings and has a synthetic bone saddle. This lovely budgeyt guitar also has grover tuners and synthetic tortoise pickguard. It weighs 2.3 kg so not bad.

Why do I also rave about this Hummingbird Pro? Incredibly, this acoustic guitar has a built-in pickup, with a Shadows ePerformer preamp system that allows you to connect this guitar to an amp or PA system. The preamp system has treble and bass controls, a master volume control, and is powered by 2032 round batteries.

You Tube has very good guitar lessons for absolute beginners. Type 'guitar lessons for absolute beginners' in the You Tube search box and you'll find lots more. Here is a really good, motivating example by Erich Andreas.

Before you go out and buy a guitar, Artist Guitars give excellent advice:

So there you go. There's nothing lovelier than an ace budget guitar, and free lessons if you look around.

The greatest female power is empathy to create relationships on a personal level. It's better for a woman to come across as more nurturing, more warm, and that is going to lend more success to her than for a man doing the same thing.
