Post of The Month (August)

Meggles is our Post of The Month winner voted by the community for the following post:

"my recent post and a comment from another user has made me realise that self care is so important.

I wanted to start a thread in the Health and Wellbeing section of the boards about self care.

Self care is provided by you, for you

I know a lot of us are struggling at the moment with different aspects of our own lives, and sometimes we get so lost in these we forget to take time for ourselves. This tread is, a Reminder to you to take time out for yourself during the difficult times.

down in the comments I would really love for people to share ideas and tips about self- care. to remind ourselves and others in the community.

My way of self care when i recognise ( or someone recognises i have neglected myself) is:

Take a walk and admire whats around me ( take as long as needed)
treat myself to a bath with a bathbomb and bubbles ( bubbles are important)
make a hot drink and just sit down with a film.

Please feel free to share your ideas!

The Mix have a guide to self-care which you can find here."

  • What's best to eat after a stomach bug!

title says it all really. was very ill all yesterday+last night, and now feel starving+dehydrated.
im drinking water+very weak juice, and have managed to eat 3rounds of plain toast+keep it down, so i feel ready for something more substantial!
    thanx - im starving!
~Yes, she caught my eye as i walked on by, she could see from my face that i was fucking high!~

Something light at first but eat normally as soon as you start to feel better.

Fruit juices and soft drinks are probably better than plain water initially.

If it was just a one day effort then you'll be back to normal soon enough.

I tend not to eat anything until I feel ok again.

I don't care where I go, so long as it ain't here,

apparently scambled egg because the egg helps "bind" stuff together. sorry not very technical but it always seems to work for me

I always find bread products work. Like bagles, muffins, toast and that. Along with Gatoraide.
Of all the mistakes you've made, the best are yet to come.

Fish or chicken and rice, something light.
Doves, Playboys, Biscuits, Barrels, Callies, Clear Caps, China Whites, Rhubarbs, Loony Toons, New Yorkers... you know, bang on, larging it, the full monty, safe as houses, pair of trousers, what a laugh, let's do another half!

You can get rehydration sachets from boots - it's just powder you mix with water and is quite a good idea after a stomach bug.

Live or pro-biotic yoghurts or drinks (such as yackult). Helps to settle the bacteria in the stomach, and good if you cant keep much down.

They make my mum ill So, I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot barge pole if I had a dodgy tummy.

I recommend a plate of toast with a scraping of marge on.
