Welcome, ZeeZee! Glad you found us.

We're friendly enough. I see you've already gotten started posting, which is wicked. Thank you for the content warnings on your posts (you can tell you're a seasoned forum-user!).

I'm Mike, one of the mods you'll see drifting through from time to time. See you around.

  • What's the weirdest thing you've done as a result of social anxiety?

A friend of mine showed me this reddit thread about the weirdest things people have done as a result of social anxiety - it's worth a look if you'd like a giggle. My personal favourite:

What's the weirdest/most embarrassing thing you've done as a result of social anxiety?

Mine is probably the first time I went to a walk-in barbers on my own. I sat down to wait in line, but...

How did this go, AngelIsMe21? Appointments and assessments aren't the nicest things, so I hope it went okay.

Oh, while I think about it, we also have an Under 16's Support Chat session happening tonight (6-7:30pm) if you'd be interested in coming along. No pressure of course, just thought I'd mention while I thought about it!

Welcome to the community, WhiteEclipse! Glad you found us.

I can imagine it's frustrating living with parents in the medical profession, particularly when they're not feeling what you're feeling or experiencing what you're experiencing. If you'd like to, feel free to head over to one of our support forums to start a thread of your own about what's on your mind. And feel free to...

Oh this is tasty! I can definitely feel the London Grammar/Daughter resemblance. I shall need to do some investigating.

One of my favourites by Daughter is her cover of Daft Punk's Get Lucky:

She also did this amazing mash up of Bon Iver and Hot Chip:

*TW* New article: intimacy after sexual assault

After seeing a lot of you folks talk about this, both in chats and here on the boards, I thought I'd share our latest article 'I still struggle to be intimate after rape'. It was written with a real young person who shared their story with us. If you decide to have a read, remember to look after yourself - the content is naturally a little heavy.

    Heya Jacob101

Some great advice from *BananaMonkey* here - a crisis plan could definitely be worth exploring, perhaps with your counsellor?

And just a general note that the boards aren't a good place to come if you're at crisis point, just because it's very unlikely that someone will see your post and respond as quickly as you need them to (and these sorts of posts can...

Hey there Invisible_me. Well done for posting. There's not really a right way or an 'OK' way to talk here - it's fine to just say what's on your mind.

Just to check I've heard you correctly, is it that you feel your psychiatrist just isn't seeing or understanding what's really going on for you? Reading your post, it seems like your experiences and the way she's seeing things are...

Hey Aurora - good to see you posting.

This is a tough one. Your manager can make a massive impact on your experience of your job, and personally I can relate to what you're saying about feeling bullied by your boss (not from my time at The Mix, but a previous job!). Since coming out the other side of that situation and speaking to other staff members, one thing I learned was that everyone...

    Hey Lostsense

How did it feel to get that all out and down into writing? It sounds like you had a lot to get off your chest. And right so - it seems like you've been through a bit of a support minefield! I can really hear your frustration, particularly with the way you described support being like a wheel:

This is a really interesting way to think about it,...

Interesting to see this discussion unfolding - sharing experiences and opinions of other services can be really useful, particularly when it comes to talking out situations like yours Shaunie. Taking this to Mind directly via a complaints line or another email address is a really good shout. Feedback is really valuable to support services, so they might really appreciate you bringing things to them...

Hey _Anonymous_ (welcome to the community! ) and everyone else,

Just chipping in here to say I moved this thread over to our Sex & Relationships forum given this seems like a family issue.

It's also worth noting that we can't create chat accounts when chat isn't open, but registering only takes a few seconds so it's totally fine to do so when you arrive for a session....

replied to How do you feel about the Digital World ?
Have to say, I'm guilty of getting absorbed into Netflix (series, movies, documentaries, you name it) or YouTube (vloggers, gaming videos, music) for stupidly long times. Games as well, and I certainly couldn't function (or work as efficiently) without Spotify!

Personally I don't necessarily think it's bad, not as long as you're getting a good balance of other things in your life as well....

    Hey Elisia,

Just a heads up that I've removed some of the physical description in that first post - it's best if we don't talk about any of the physical details around self-harm, just to make sure everything is safe for everyone to read and we avoid any triggering language. It's more productive and healthier for a group space like the boards if we focus on feeling and emotions behind...

    Hey Shaunie,

Reading your post, it's really clear how intensely difficult this is for you. It sounds like you're trying really hard to 'unshackle' yourself from what happened, but you keep being pulled back by those memories and horrible associations?

Although I don't have any lived experience to share, I just wanted to say I agree with what OIAM has said here. Days that...
