Online Volunteer Counsellor

• Providing online telephone or webchat counselling sessions (imagine instant messenger, so no video.)
• Entirely remote and online.
• A commitment of 4 hours a week (4 clients a week.)
• Flexible shifts - you can do block shifts or spread your hours across the day or week. We provide sessions every day from 9am to 11pm.
• Supporting young people aged 11 to 25 with a range of issues, such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem.
• A commitment of one year - you can stay longer though!

To be considered for an interview, you must ensure:

• That you are currently enrolled in your final year of your counselling course or recently qualified. If you've been qualified for a while now, you must make sure you have an active professional body membership.
• You are a registered member of a professional body in counselling or psychotherapy or equivalent, such as the BACP, NCS, BABCP etc.
• You are able to provide a valid enhanced DBS or happy to undertake a DBS check before receiving a caseload.
• You have a good knowledge of the issues with young people.
• You work ethically and empathetically with all young people. We support young people from all backgrounds and life experiences.
• You are someone who is organised, dedicated, reliable, and communicates well in a professional setting.
• You are confident using tech and able to adapt to using online platforms quickly.

• Experience working with young people, and obtaining insight, skills, and knowledge with the key issues affecting young people.
• Free online monthly or fortnightly group supervision.
• Robust development of counselling skills, and expertise in counselling young people.
• Invaluable experience towards your counselling career.
• Full training and induction period, as well as access to resources and a buddy to provide additional support as you settle into the role.
• A reference after 6 months of active volunteering.

• Training, support, and experience with an organisation who are the forerunners of the digital counselling domain, within the young persons speciality.
• Free group supervision with a member of the counselling team with up to 5 years’ experience and over 85% of supervisees believe their needs are met and exceeded, whilst 100% are happy with the quality of their supervision.
• Clinical debriefs from our counselling and/or safeguarding team at request, who can provide emotional support and practical support with complex cases.
