Couch to 5k
Couch to 5k is PERFECT for rookie runners who want to get fit!
I was recommended the Couch to 5k app when I was beginning recovery for GAD.
I always hated the thought of running, but the app was so simple to use and wasn't intimidating at all. During Week 1 you only run for 60 seconds, then walk for 90 seconds, and repeat for 20 minutes.
You get to choose a voice that acts as your trainer for the nine weeks, and they give you tips and encouragement during the runs. You start off enemies but quickly become best friends!
You slowly begin to build your fitness and become addicted! I loved the organised element of ticking off days, and feeling myself get fitter and fitter was so great. Nothing beats the feeling of endorphins after a run! Oh, and doing the final run in the final week of the programme, a full 30 minutes, was incredible.
Now I use the Nike+ app for my runs. I run three times a week, go to parkrun on Saturdays, and I'm taking part in my first 10k this month!
If you want to improve your physical and mental fitness, definitely give Couch to 5k a go. It's perfect for beginners.
