The Eight Stages

A playlist about a long-distance relationship

Hi, I am moving all the posts from the The Mix’s sister website Madly In Love to Your Voices.

To Die For (The Birthday Massacre)
For me, this song really captures the feeling of finding someone who feels precious and special; only you really understand and love them the way they deserve to be loved and understood. It's both childlike in that sort of selfish way, and unconditional in the sense that it's a promise to love someone forever in spite of their flaws.

Pictures of You (The Cure)
Being someone in a long-distance relationship (LDR), photographs are pretty much the main part of the relationship. It's bittersweet but you find yourself getting lost in photos, collecting them and having them as your comfort whenever you crave connecting with your loved one. Also, Robert Smith sings love songs so sincerely that this pretty much feels like a soundtrack to any LDR.

I Just Died In Your Arms (Dommin)
The original is great but Kristofer Dommin's voice is just so seductive, it creates a whole new dimension to being so infatuated by someone that they sweep you off your feet. Personally, it feels like being caught unaware and unprepared by that special someone who manages to surprise and knock the breath out of you. You instantaneously fall under their spell and lose all the grace you ever had. Maybe you should have walked away before they had the chance.

This Addiction (Alkaline Trio)
A song for one of those days when you realise how hopelessly addicted you are to another human being.

Beautiful - Hollovlad Tepes (HIM)
Simple lyrics but gets the point across. Have you ever met someone so beautiful it makes you cry? If so, you'll relate to this.

It Rains (esO)
There's nothing remarkable about this song in theory, it's just one of the most beautiful and sincere songs I've ever heard. It could be about being with the person you love, or waiting for them to love you back  - either way they're worth waiting for.

Save You (Emilie Autumn)
Being someone with emotional instabilities and a tendency to destroy relationships, this song has a special place in my heart. It represents the fear I have for anyone I love that I have to protect them from me, that the only way to save them is to make them leave.

Love Song (Jack Off Jill)
Another Robert Smith song, this is a beautifully passionate cover from a female perspective that I relate to a lot more than the tender original.
