The Mix and River Island launch t-shirts for World Mental Health Day 2017

Words can be tricky, especially when it comes to mental health. Which ones do you use, in what order, if at all? How do you start that conversation? Well, for this year's World Mental Health Day, we're working with River Island on supporting you to kickstart it. Been there, done that, stuck my mental health struggles on a t-shirt.

We’ve teamed up with River Island to launch five exclusive unisex t-shirts promoting mental health awareness for World Mental Health Day. They’re already available online and in-store for £18, with 30% of the proceeds coming directly to The Mix. Looking ace, promoting that mental health good stuff, and supporting our wonderful charity at the same time. What a trooper you are.

We all know how it goes…

“Oh, Rolling Stones t-shirt? NAME THREE OF THEIR SONGS.”

Now we’re starting a new trend.

“Oh, t-shirt telling the world you sometimes struggle with your mental health? Wow, that’s so brave of you. Do you want to talk about it?”

See? Much nicer.

We know that it can be hard to talk about your mental health. That’s why we’re here; we give you the words, info, and support to go out there and be badass with whatever you’re facing. We’ve shared our advice from experts on how you can start conversations with friendsfamily, and partners, and now we want you to share that you talk about mental health. Why? Because it’s not shameful, embarrassing, or weird. It’s just life. It’s your head! You should be in control of it.

We put the power in your hands. That’s why we asked you guys what you would put on a t-shirt to promote your relationship with mental health. You told us, we told River Island, and River Island said, “Sure thing, let’s do it.”

If (when) you buy one (or all five), you’re obviously going to share it, right? Right. Post a photo of your t-shirt on TwitterFacebookInstagram, all the lampposts down the road and hashtag #RIxTheMix. If you share it on World Mental Health Day, Tuesday 10th October, then you’ll win extra brownie points.

We want you to feel comfortable and strong talking about mental health, whether you struggle with it or not. The conversation is for everyone, because we all have mental health. Let everyone know how normal it is with one of these t-shirts. Go on.

Also (yes, we’re not done yet – we spoil you, we know), a big part of looking after your mental health is self-care, so River Island have teamed up with Being by Sanctuary Spa to offer you a chance of winning a bunch of self-care goodies, a £500 shopping spree, and a Style Studio experience. We mean it when we say we want you to feel empowered, confident, and in control! All you have to do to win is enter your details.

Ok, we’re done. For now.

Find our t-shirts in selected River Islands stores now, or visit their website to shop online.
