The Mix is gearing up to double supporters’ Christmas donations by taking part in the UK’s biggest match funding campaign, The Big Give’s Christmas Challenge 2019.

What is The Christmas Challenge?

Now in its 12th year, The Christmas Challenge launched at midday on 3rd December (Giving Tuesday) and runs for just seven days, until 10th December 2019. Throughout the week, your donation can be matched, doubling the impact.

Why is the Mix taking part?

We’re taking part in the Christmas Challenge 2019, aiming to raise income and secure vital funding for charitable services for 2020 and beyond.

Last year over 500 young people called The Mix helpline during the Christmas holiday with 50 of those calls related to young people thinking about suicide. We call two ambulances a day for those at active risk of harm.

Online there were over 5,400 visits to our moderated peer community, as isolated young people turned to their peers for support and companionship around family, money and eating disorders.

Many traditional support services for young people are closed over Christmas. We desperately need your help to ensure The Mix remains open, available and free during the festive period and beyond.

This year, you can make double the difference.

How can you help?

Donating just £5 when matched will allow us to train a young person to be a mental health mentor and support other young people.

Donating just £25 when matched covers the cost of two calls to The Mix helpline.

You can provide a young person with nowhere to turn with safeguarding, empathy and signposting to over 1,600 organisations for ongoing support.

Donating just £50 when matched will support 500 young people to access our online community. You can ensure an isolated young person can talk to another young person with lived experience in a safe moderated environment.

Donating just £250 when matched will provide ten sessions of life-changing counselling. You can ensure a young person struggling with their mental health can talk to one of The Mix’s trained counsellors for free.

To help us continue supporting young people under 25 this Christmas, donate here.

“Honestly recommend counselling with @TheMixUK to any young person. I still think about how wonderful my counsellor was and how much he inspired me to carry on my counselling degree. They’re revolutionising counselling for young people.”

The Mix’s phone line is no longer available, but you can email us or chat one-to-one online 4pm-11pm Monday to Friday, speak to our online communitysign up for free counselling online or text text THEMIX to 85258 to access our 24/7 crisis line.
